Why I Love Going To The Park

Every day, I try to spend some time in the park.

To some people, that might sound boring.

To me, it feels like a small escape.

Life can be busy. Work can be busy. Relationships can be complicated. Sometimes your head is simply full of thoughts.

That is why I love going to the park.

I usually go alone.

Not because I don't like being around people, but because I enjoy having a moment to myself. A moment where nobody needs anything from me and where I can simply sit down and breathe.

The funny thing is that when people ask me what I think about while sitting there, the answer is often: nothing.

Or at least nothing specific.

I just let my mind wander.

Sometimes I look at the trees.

Sometimes I watch people walking by.

Sometimes I scroll through my phone.

And sometimes I simply sit there and enjoy the peace.

Over the years, the park has become a familiar place.

I recognise people now.

There is a lady with a beautiful dog that has two different coloured eyes. The dog is always a little shy around me, but I love seeing them walk by.

There is another lady who sometimes gives me a dog treat so I can give it to her dog.

It is funny how small moments like that can brighten your day.

What I also love is the variety of life you see in a park.

Children playing.

People walking their dogs.

Birds looking for food.

Friends meeting for a chat.

People exercising.

Everyone has their own story, and for a short moment, those stories all come together in the same place.

The park has also helped me through difficult times.

Whenever life felt overwhelming or I was going through a difficult period, I would often go there.

Not because it solved my problems.

But because it gave me space to think.

Or sometimes, space not to think at all.

And that can be just as important.

In a world where everything seems to move faster every day, I think we sometimes forget how valuable simple things can be.

A walk.

A bench.

A few trees.

A friendly dog.

A little bit of peace.

For me, that is more than enough.

Love,

Shavida
