How I Lost My Fitness Routine
Three years ago, my life looked very different.
At the time, I was training several times a week. I attended boxing classes, spent time in the gym and felt stronger than I had in years. Exercise had become part of my routine, and I genuinely enjoyed it.
Looking back, I sometimes wonder what happened.
The truth is that I did not suddenly decide to stop exercising.
Life simply happened.
During those years, a lot changed. I moved to a new home, went through the end of a relationship and later started a new chapter with someone new. Looking back, I realise that all of those changes brought stress, emotions and uncertainty.
When you are dealing with major life changes, it is easy to stop focusing on yourself.
Without even noticing it, my priorities shifted.
One missed workout became two.
Two became a month.
And before I knew it, the healthy routine that once made me feel so good had completely disappeared.
Over time, I gained weight and became less active.
But what I miss most is not being slimmer.
What I miss is how I felt.
I miss having more energy.
I miss feeling strong.
I miss walking into a boxing class feeling confident.
I miss knowing that I was doing something positive for myself.
The funny thing is that I spent years thinking that I needed to find motivation again.
Now I realise that motivation is not the answer.
Routine is.
Back then, I did not exercise because I felt motivated every day. I exercised because it had become part of my life.
That is what I want to build again.
Not a perfect body.
Not a crash diet.
Not unrealistic expectations.
I simply want to create healthy habits that fit into my life.
I know it will take time.
I know there will be difficult days.
But I also know that if I built those habits once, I can build them again.
This journey is not about becoming the person I was three years ago.
It is about becoming a stronger, healthier and happier version of who I am today.
And this time, I am taking you along for the ride.
Love,
Shavida
