The Swedish furniture giant is unaware of the opening of an Ikea store in North Korea.

PYONGYANG—In a mall in the capital of North Korea, Pyongyang, an Ikea store has unexpectedly opened. That's how it appears, anyway. The 'Travel Store' in the retail mall in the very closed country also has suitcases.

A video of a North Korean shopping mall featured the Swedish interior design company's logo. During a visit to the mall, a Chinese exchange student took video and shared it on social media. In an attempt to draw tourists to the totalitarian nation of more than 25 million people, the profile seems to be a propaganda account showcasing how "modern" North Korea is. However, a representative for the Swedish company told the German tabloid Bild that it is not an actual Ikea store. According to a spokeswoman, "North Korea has no authorized Ikea sales outlets." '

But it's likely that actual Ikea furniture is being offered for sale. According to insiders, the furniture was illegally imported into the nation and sold to affluent consumers at department stores. It's unclear if you may eat the well-known meatballs at the furniture store as well.

A representative for Ikea stated that they will "take action if necessary." Additionally, the Ryugyong shopping area is home to high-end retailers including Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Montblanc. Additionally, these companies believe that their goods are being resold without a license. The pictures also feature a Chanel and Dior store and a purported Adidas store.
