There is no such thing as a beer belly.

Men with a belly don't normally have a beer belly, even if they do drink a lot of beer. Because they are a male, they have a belly.

But first, let's talk about the connection between beer and the stomach.

German researchers took measurements of 20,000 men and women's hips and abdomens while keeping track of what they ate and drank. More than half of the men and two-thirds of the women had a greater waist size after four years. There was no link between alcohol use and increased waist circumference in women. Yes, for guys, but a slightly larger waist does not necessarily imply a beer belly.

Heavy beer drinkers, both men and women, were found to be, on average, heavier. The researchers wrote in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, "We detect an increase in fat all over the body, but not notably in the abdomen."

"The beer belly isn't supported by any evidence. That is a sexist expression ", according to KU Leuven nutrition and health expert Theo Niewold. "Alcohol can cause both men and women to gain weight because it is high in calories. Fat tends to accumulate around the abdomen in men, while it tends to develop around the hips in women due to hormonal factors. However, if a lady continues to consume too many calories, she will develop a belly."

As a result, beer is high in calories. You gain weight if you drink a lot of beer. However, a man's belly develops as he gains weight. It comes from  Coca-Cola. Or from a can of beer.
