The Singapore Customs has caught a man who tried to smuggle tarantulas in the city-state. The Singaporean was found illegally again dozens of animals, which can grow up to 28 centimeters, to keep his house. According to the newspaper The Straits Times, the spider collector (33) ran into a checkpoint at the border earlier this month. He turned out to have six tarantulas in his vehicle. Those animals were in plastic containers. When the authorities later inspected the man's home, they found there 92 tarantulas. All animals are confiscated. They may not be kept as pets in the city state. Those who want to tag a tarantula for other purposes need a permit. It is still unclear why the man had such a large spider collection.
