PHOTOS - Saudi women for the first time in football

For the first time in the history of the Saudi kingdom women have been allowed to visit an official football match in a stadium. Saudi media showed images of women wearing scarves on the stand of the King Abdullah stadium in the city of Jeddah.

There are 62,000 people in the stadium. Women took place in the boxes reserved for families.

Video footage showed that women, together with men, encouraged the players of the clubs al-Ahli and al-Batin on the field.

Later this month, women can also attend Eredivisie matches in Riyadh and Dammam

The first special car showroom for women opened on Friday. From June onwards, women in Saudi Arabia can also get on the road.
