From today, ivory trade is also illegal in China. For a long time, the country was considered one of the world's largest traders in the tusks of elephants. It is therefore an important decision that helps to protect the endangered animals. According to nature conservationists, 30,000 African elephants were killed annually for their ivory. In China it is a status symbol and the gift is given to business relations. It is also used preventively for health. The Chinese think that ivory increases the potential. China recently campaigned with well-known Chinese stars to promote the ivory ban. Last week, the last 105 factories and stores were closed.
