Gluten-free food: it is really unhealthy

Many foodies and health freaks still swear by the avoidance of gluten. The innocent protein would cause all kinds of intestinal complaints. But that is nonsense, unless you have celiac disease. For everyone else it is really better to eat gluten. Gastroenterologist and clinical epidemiologist at the Australian Monash University strongly advises against eating gluten free. According to her, it is unhealthy. "For people without celiac disease, it is possible to avoid eating whole-grain products because they do not get enough fiber." She writes: "Gluten-free products are often seen as a healthier alternative, because they are in line with a healthy lifestyle. But there is no scientific proof for it. " Several studies have shown that wheat fibers protect against cardiovascular diseases by reducing the levels of triglycerides in the blood. After research among thousands of people over a period of 26 years, scientists conclude that those who do not have celiac disease should not follow a gluten-free diet. The avoidance of gluten is associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Not only because wheat fibers are important, but also because the gluten-free substitutes often contain more sugar, salt and fat.
