The relationship between Napoleon and Josephine, a six-year-old widow with two children, was turbulent. Two days after their wedding day, Napoleon left for a military campaign to Italy. Napoleon married Marie-Louise with whom he had a child. The names of these lovers are not so well known to us, but the tomb that was produced by him is. This is the Taj Mahal in India. Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal were for a long time a happily married couple, but that came to an end when Mumtaz died when she brought her 14th child to the earth. Shah Jahan became deeply sad, it broke him emotionally and physically. But his grief inspired him to build one of the world's greatest architectural masterpieces. The Taj Mahal served as the final resting place of his beloved wife. Shortly after the construction of the tomb of the Taj Mahal (between 1632 and 1648) Shah Jahan became ill. Shortly afterwards he died and was buried next to his wife. According to legend, Shah Jahan planned to place an exact copy of the Taj Mahal in black marble across the Yamuma River, but it never came.

The ancient Greek mythological hero Orpheus is known for his beautiful music, which charmed everyone, even the stones and wild animals. But Orpheus is also popular because of the deep love he felt for his wife nymph Eurydice. When she dies from the bite of a snake, Orpheus decides to go to the underworld to bring back his wife. With his music, he charms the ruler over the shadows, allowing him to take his wife back to him. But in return he must promise them that he will not look back at the Underworld until he has escaped. When Orpheus and Eurydice reach the gates of the underworld, Orpheus looks back to see if his Eurydice is still following him. At that moment Eurydice disappears, back to the world of the dead.

The love story between Tristan and Isolde became popular in France in the 12th century. The story probably comes from an old Celtic legend. There are multiple versions of the story, but they all have the same story. Isolde is about to marry Tristan's uncle, King Mark. When she is on her way to Cornwall, she drinks a love potion together with Tristan, making the two fall desperately in love. Isolde marries King Mark, but the love potion makes it impossible for Tristan and Isolde to resist each other. They hide their affair, but the man from Isolde, King Mark, finds out. Tristan and Isolde try to escape from him together, but Isolde is forced to stay with Mark. Tristan leaves Cornwall and marries another woman, who is also called Isolde. But when he is wounded by poison, he calls for his only true love. Tristan dies out of despair, convinced that his Isolde does not want to come to him. But Isolde knows nothing about it all this time. She dies of grief when she finds out that her great love has died.

Sometime in 1590 William Shakespeare wrote the most famous love story ever. Of course this is about the tragic love between Romeo and Juliet. They come from families who have been enemies for years. After Romeo is rejected by another girl, Rosaline, his heart is torn. When he is mourning, his nephew cheerfully cheer him up. He takes Romeo to a party of Julia's family Because Julia's father does not want any fuss, he leaves the two boys at the party. Romeo and Juliet meet and are instantly in love. Although they know that their families are enemies and Julia is already getting married to Paris, they want to go for each other and marry each other. On the day of the wedding with Paris, Julia takes poison which makes her appear dead. Romeo thinks that Julia is really dead. He takes poison. When Julia wakes up, she finds Romeo dead. She kisses his poisoned lips and falls dead . A tragic end, but this has the consequence that the quarrel between the two families is lifted. The love between the lovers flourishes in the families.
