Warming up North Pole is so fast that computer thought that measurements were not correct

Climate change in the Arctic is so fast that a computer designed to measure global warming thought something had gone wrong. The computer at a weather station in Alaska gave an error and stopped measuring, because the temperature changed so quickly that it could not beat according to the device.
Dr. Deke Arndt wrote in a recent blog for the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that it is "an ironic exclamation mark that shows how quickly the climate is changing in and around the Arctic." The weather station is in Utqiaġvik, the northernmost city in the US. The cause of the rapid temperature rise is the decrease in the amount of sea ice in the region.
The computers used by the NOAA for the registration of climate data have a built-in algorithm that ensures that the recorded data are accurate. This algorithm is activated if the measuring instruments are damaged or if an artificial change is observed in the immediate vicinity. In this case, the temperature rise was such a big shock to the computer system that it disqualified itself for the temperature analysis on Alaska. Data is now missing for the whole of 2017.
