This lousy Christmas tree cost Rome 48,000 euros

The Christmas days are not over yet, but the official Christmas tree of Rome has already dropped its needles. The tree in Piazza Venezia was not  cheap, and it is not very good quality. Rome had the tree removed from a forest in Austria. That cost the city a lot of money. 48,000 euros were allocated for transporting the tree to Italy. The tree was already sick then and once in Rome, his condition deteriorated further. After the Christmas lights were lit on December 8, the tree became bare and bare. The almost 600 silver Christmas balls that hung the city in the tree are now hanging on almost bare branches. Residents of Rome have given the tree the nickname 'Spelacchio'. That means 'worn out'.
