Happily looking for an unfinished skyscraper? Then you are lucky! On the Taobao site, also known as the Chinese eBay, one is offered for sale. Bidding is possible from 2 January.

The skyscraper is 156 meters high, has 39 floors and is located in the north of Shanxi, a province south of the capital Beijing. The building covers an area of 76,000 square meters and will be offered for sale from January 2 at the online marketplace Taobao. For a small 70 million euros the building is yours. In 2006 the construction of the skyscraper began. In 2011 he should have finished, but the developer ran into problems, making the building confiscated by the court of Shanxi. The building is therefore not fully finished.

It is not the first time that such an unusual object is offered for sale on Taobao. Earlier this year, it was already possible to bid on two Boeing 747 aircraft. They were eventually sold for 40 million euros. A building with 28 floors was also offered for sale for 30 million. Even though it did not sell.

So on Taobao several buildings are offered for sale, from shopping centers to hotels. Although the skyscraper is the most striking building that can be found on the site. In fact, almost every court in China is registered on the site. Buildings that have been seized are then offered to the courts for sale on Taobao. According to Lu Weixing, spokesman for Taobao's parent company Alibababa, it is a good thing that the sale is done online. It provides more transparency in the sale of real estate, because all information is open and exposed online for everyone.
