A mysterious sound comes from the earth. And nobody knows what it is

Since 1959 it has been known that there is a crazy sound coming from the inside of the earth, but it was not until 1998 that scientists were able to prove that it was real. And only now they succeeded to make recordings of the mysterious hum. The fact that researchers have only now succeeded is because earlier attempts have all been made on land. That did not work, but at the bottom of the ocean it was possible to record the sound. The data were collected in 2012 and 2013, but it took scientists several years to filter out all the sounds of the sea and to keep the natural sound of the earth. It is still not heard for the human ear. It is only 4.5 millihertz. That is 10,000 times lower than what people can notice. No matter how happy scientists are with this breakthrough, it does not bring them any closer to where the sound comes from. Some say that the waves in the ocean cause the vibrations, others suspect that it comes from storms and turbulence in the atmosphere. The low hum helps scientists to learn more about the inside of the earth. The constant buzzer gives a signal that can be measured anywhere on earth. With this, the structure of our planet could be better mapped.
