A Lego brick has been auctioned at online auction Catawiki for nearly 19,000 euros. For that price the buyer gets not a plastic one, but one of 25 grams consisting of 14 carat solid gold. It is the highest price ever paid for a Lego brick. There are only ten identical copies, thats why the Lego brick could count on global interest. A collector from England made the highest bid and is the new owner. The bid of nearly 19,000 euros exceeds the expectations of the online auctioneer. It was thought that the stone with a gold value of 2,000 euros, would bring about 15,000 euros. The last time was auctioned same gold Lego brick was five years ago. When the yield was nearly 14,000 euros. Lego made the ten golden stones between 1979 and 1981 and gave them to a number of business partners and employees who were in service 25 years. The seller of the stone that was auctioned Wednesday, got it from a former business partner of Lego.
