Eighty falcons that occupied a large portion of the seats in an airplane. That might look crazy, but in the Middle East, its very normal. A Saudi prince took the falcons out for a hunting trip in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. "It is quite normal for airlines in the Middle East to transport birds of prey," said the Turkish businessman Ahmet Yasar. He received the picture of the captain of the aircraft and placed him on Reddit, one of the best-known Internet forums. The falcons in this plane would charge around 7500 euros each. Hunting with birds of prey is popular in the Middle East. Wealthy falconers travel to countries such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Afghanistan. The animals they bring, are trained to approach their prey at high speed. Favorite preyis the Houbara bustard, a bird common in the desert.

Airlines have special rules for the carriage of falcons. By Qatar Airways for example, a maximum of six falcons are permitted in economy class. Etihad Airways (United Arab Emirates) allowed people who first- or business class travel to bring two birds of prey per seat. For other passengers is a maximum of one.
