Marmot 'Phil' predicts long winter 'Groundhog Day'

Punxsutawney Phil, the world famous Marmot, predicted Thursday 'Groundhog Day' that this year the winter will take at least six weeks. The phenomenon became world famous by the movie Groundhog Day. The marmot was in the town of Punxsutawney in the American state of Pennsylvania around 7:15 am out of its hole. According to superstition the marmot predict on 2 February the spring but the spring still let long in coming. The animal then awakens out of its hibernation. If Phil upon awakening does not see his shadow, then spring is a short term. The event was held this year for the 129th. Tens of thousands of people come each year to Punxsutawney to celebrate the ceremony. Also online the event was watched by tens of thousands of viewers. According to the website of Phil, the rodent have it always right, but American meteorologists put their doubts about the gift of prophecy of the marmot. The festival, which is celebrated in more American cities, was the center of the movie classic Groundhog Day 1993. In this comedy actor Bill Murray plays a cynical journalist who needs to report the ceremony.
