Sailor possibly eaten by cannibals

It seemed the journey to paradise, but the dream trip of the German sailor Stefan Ramin and his wife Heike Dorsch ended in a nightmare.On Nuku Hiva, a remote island in French Polynesia, are the remains of Ramins body found. Australian media report that he was chopped into pieces and eaten by cannibals.
The German couple was since 2008 with their sailing boat in the world and was planning to spend a few months in French Polynesia. They wanted to experience a traditional goat hunt in the 2,800 inhabitants island.
Last week, the 40-year-old Ramin had gone on a hunting trip, but the local guide would have returned without him to the shore, with the story that the German was injured.
When his wife Heike followed the guide, she was in his own words molested by him. She would be tied to a tree, but managed to escape. Alarmed police discovered not long after human remains in the ashes of a fire.
Through a dental reconstruction, the identity of Stefan Ramin was determined. The other remains are now sent to a forensic institute in Paris for further DNA research.The prosecutor in Tahiti, José Thorel, request that the German is eaten. According to him, his body was thrown into the fire to make it disappear. Guide Henri Haiti is still a fugitive.
The police with 22 men and a dog team is looking for him. Also, the help of the army is invoked. Nuku Hiva is twice as large as Texel( small island in The Netherlands), but is sparsely populated and has thick forests and steep cliffs. Nuku Hiva is part of French Polynesia and is located in the Pacific Ocean.The most famous island of French Polynesia Tahiti, about 1,500 kilometers to the southwest.
Cannibalism was once widespread on the islands of Polynesia and came to the 19th century. Fiji Islands were once known as the Cannibal Isles.
