French scientists have for the first time seen a monkey who performed sexual acts with another species. The macaque monkey living on the Japanese island of Yakushima, ejaculated at the back of a deer. The monkey has a low social status in his group and was therefore likely to not find a partner of his own kind. That report French researchers in the journal Primates.
During the sexual contact between the monkey and the deer there was no penetration. According to the researchers the macaque monkey rubbed his genitals only passed the back of the animal. "But there was no mistake about what was going on, it was clearly a sexual act," said lead researcher Marie Pele on news site Phys.org.
A few days later, the monkey tried again to climb a deer, reports news site Science Now. But that animal protested violently and even went on the attack. The incident between the deer and the monkey took place several years ago, but only now biologists have made public of their report of the sexual encounter. Until now there was only one case published by sex between different animal species. A fur seal in Antarctica ejaculated on a penguin in 2014. Biologists suspect that this kind of behavior caused by blustering hormones in males groups where are little or no females.
