A few nutella facts
1. Napoleon has a modest role in the development of Nutella. French military and political leader tried to explain to the British trade ties, causing a shortage of chocolate. The price of chocolate grew sky high and chocolatiers in Turin, Italy started adding out of pure necessary chopped hazelnuts in their chocolates, in order to stretch their stock. They called the mix "gianduia 'and it proved a winning combination.
During World War II, chocolate was again very expensive and Italian confectioner Pietro Ferrero decided to make a 'cheap' pasta to an old recipe: Pasta Gianduja was made of - yes - chocolate and hazelnuts. In 1964, this super popular pasta would eventually called Nutella.
2. Each 2.5 (!) Seconds a jar of Nutella flies over the counter.
3. In 2013, five tons of Nutella was stolen from a parked truck in Germany. The street value was such a sloppy 16,000 euros.
4. Nutella is so addictive that a man from Germany has designed a special lock to secure his pot.
5. It took 23 years before the US imported Nutella. Twentythree years!
Actually, we speak out Nutella wrong for year. You should pronounce it slightly differently: new-tell-uh.
