Middle finger in the garden



A neighborhood quarrel in California was so bad, that a woman placed a statue of a middle finger in the garden.

The woman placed fourteen years ago a pond in her garden, but the neighbors were not happy about it. The pond would partly be based on the neighbors. After a displacement of the pond the woman installed a statue of a middle finger in the garden, towards the house of her neighbors.

The woman now says that the quarrel has already expired and that they have become good friends. But the statue has remained all these years.

She plans to move soon. The new owner may decide whether the statue remains

For the second time in history, scientists are transmitting communications to extraterrestrials.

NASA scientists hope to communicate with extraterrestrials. They've drafted a message that they want to launch into space soon. That message is more than a simple 'hi, how are you?' The goal is to give the aliens as much knowledge about our civilization as possible. "The message incorporates basic mathematical and physical ideas to construct a universal means of communication, followed by information regarding the biochemical makeup of life on Earth," said Jonathan Jiang, the primary author. The so-called Beacon In The Galaxy (BITG) is written in binary code and concludes with a digital image of a man and a woman, as well as an invitation to reply.
