Lets Twerk
Researchers from the Oxford English Dictionary have selected the origin of the word, now the term along with five hundred other words added to the dictionary.
In 1820 it became the term 'Twirk "previously published in the book. That word was described as "a spinning or twisting motion."
One of the researchers called the discovery "very spectacular". The word would have been associated since 1990 with a dance form.
'Twerken' is described in the latest edition of the dictionary as "dancing on a sexual and provocative manner with jerky movements of the back and hips, in a low, squatting position"
The dictionary has a strict entry requirement. Before new words are allowed to be used for at least ten years in the news or in fiction. Other words besides 'TWERKING' got a place in the book: 'Twitterati' and 'e-cigarette'.
