Super Woman Yang Xiaoyun
Ladies and gentlemen, we introduce you to Yang Xiaoyun (65). This super Woman has saved hundreds of dogs from a horrific death on a traditional Chinese dog meat festival.
In 1995, Ms Yang witnessed a kitten being thrown into a river just because the owner was not able to get the kitten sold at a desirable price.
Yang, a retired teacher and animal rights activist, laid an impressive 2,400 kilometers away from her home city of Tianjin to the city of Yulin. And on her 65th! Once in Yulin Yang bought a hundred dogs. Here she paid a thousand euro. A big purchase, but if Yang had not pulled her purse were the innocent quadrupeds slaughtered in the traditional Yulin festival.
IT festival is controversial because there annually are killed about ten thousand dogs and eaten. Often this also happen again in the most hideous ways. To top off the rockets, many of the poor dogs stolen. Eyewitnesses talk about collars: a clear signal that the dogs have an owner. In recent years, it swells protest against the barbaric festival - which is held every year at the beginning of summer - on. Completely without danger is not protest. An eyewitness told the British newspaper The Independent that demonstrators attacked several times. China is also far beyond the bizarre celebration controversial. The British comedian and animal lover Ricky Gervais (known for the hit series The Office) has also several times in the discussion. So far without success: the bloody feast still exists and attracts many visitors every year.
Yang Xiaoyun all rescues animals since 1995. A few years later, she opened a home for dogs and cats. Since then, she has collected numerous animals. At present counts her care even in 1500 dogs and 200 cats! Yang also hopes near Yulin City to open an animal shelter so that more animals can be saved from the stomachs of hungry revelers.
